Privacy Policy
Last updated: 07 August 2026
At OzCabs, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used, shared and safeguarded when you use our taxi and car rental services.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how OzCabs ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal information when you use our website, mobile booking service, call or WhatsApp helpline, or any related taxi and car rental services (collectively, the "Services"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly, in compliance with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, of India, along with other applicable laws.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information that is necessary to provide, improve and secure our Services. The categories of information we may collect include:
- Identity and contact details: your full name, mobile number, email address and, where provided, an emergency contact number.
- Booking and trip details: pickup and drop locations, journey date and time, trip type (hourly, one-way, round trip, airport transfer or tour package), selected vehicle, fare, assigned driver and route information.
- Payment information: payment method, transaction reference and confirmation. We do not store full card numbers, CVV or PINs — payments are processed by authorised payment gateways.
- Driver partner information (if you apply to drive with us): name, address, driving licence details and copies, vehicle registration, insurance and background-verification information.
- Technical data: device type, browser, operating system, IP address, approximate location where needed to show nearby services, pages visited, referral source and time spent on our website.
- Communications: records of calls, WhatsApp messages and emails exchanged with our support team, used to resolve queries and maintain service quality.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely for lawful and legitimate purposes connected with our Services, including:
- Confirming and managing bookings, assigning chauffeurs, and sharing the essential trip details needed with your driver.
- Verifying identity for bookings and driver-partner onboarding, and maintaining road-safety and transport compliance.
- Processing payments, refunds, invoices and GST documentation.
- Sending booking confirmations, ride alerts, journey updates and important service or safety notices.
- Resolving complaints, disputes and feedback, and handling emergency situations during a journey.
- Improving our website, booking flow, vehicle standards and customer experience through analysis and service monitoring.
- Detecting and preventing fraud, misuse, or activity that violates our Terms of Service.
- Complying with legal, tax, regulatory and court obligations.
4. Lawful Basis for Processing
We process personal information on one or more of the following grounds: (a) your consent, which you may withdraw at any time; (b) performance of a contract with you (for example, to complete a booking); (c) compliance with a legal obligation; (d) protection of your vital interests, such as during an emergency; and (e) our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving our Services, where your rights do not override those interests.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with parties that are necessary to deliver your journey or where the law requires us to do so:
- Your assigned driver partner — limited to your name, contact number, pickup/drop locations and route needed for the trip.
- Authorised payment gateways and banks — to process payments and refunds securely.
- Regulatory and law-enforcement authorities — where required by applicable law, court order, government direction or for fraud prevention.
- Service providers (hosting, SMS/email delivery, analytics, telematics) — under written confidentiality and data-protection obligations, and only to the extent needed to support our Services.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or for the period required by tax, transport and other applicable regulations. Booking and financial records are typically retained for the period mandated by Indian tax and accounting law, after which they are securely deleted, destroyed or anonymised so that they can no longer identify you.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion or erasure of your data where it is no longer needed or where consent has been withdrawn.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format (data portability) where technically feasible.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
- Lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority in India.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical, physical and organisational safeguards — including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), role-based access controls, secure storage and periodic reviews — to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.
9. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses essential cookies that are necessary for the booking flow to function (such as session management). We may also use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site and improve performance. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, some features may not work correctly without essential cookies.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Services are intended for persons aged 18 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below 18 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.
11. Third-Party Links
Our website or communications may contain links to third-party websites (such as payment gateways or map services). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit.
12. Grievance Officer
If you have any questions, concerns or complaints about this policy or how we handle your personal information, you may contact our Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge your grievance promptly and aim to resolve it within 7 working days.
